I have always been creative and fascinated by the concept of bringing my imagination to life on screen. Although I was born in the UK, I grew up in New Zealand where I have had amazing artistic opportunities and inspiration, experiencing 'Middle Earth'. In my teens, I discovered my aptitude for 3D, and during high school I was able to apply my skills in creating marketing images as part of my work experience at Auckland University of Technology.
I found my passion for 3D animation and visual effects at the highly regarded Media Design School in Auckland. With industry-experienced lecturers and a talented student cohort, I was especially proud of the two final group projects. First, for the film Perilune, lecturer Peter McCully directed the 30+ student cohort, providing an authentic taste of industry experience. As part of the team of technical directors, I had responsibility for the smooth delivery of visual effects including the creation of photo-realistic models and an animated newsroom segment. Second, with growing confidence, I successfully pitched my story idea and became the director for the final group production project, Eye of the Beholder. In our team of eight, I really came into my own, providing the script, modelling and surfacing assets, as well as working on hair development, lighting, rendering, providing technical support to team members, composing original music, and even lending my voice to the two characters. To say that I enjoyed the experience is an understatement. The film went on to be chosen by industry professionals as the top student short film of our cohort and was able to receive accolades and recognition at prestigious film festivals worldwide.
Now with my Bachelor of Art and Design (3D Animation and Visual Effects), I've headed to Alberta, Canada for my next chapter. As Pablo Picasso once said, "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working". Therefore, I am currently seeking opportunities for work experience in film & television production, game development, advertising & marketing, virtual reality, graphic design, or wherever my enthusiasm for 3D takes me.
I am currently serving a two year volunteer mission for my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will be doing that full time between Oct 2024 - Oct 2026.
